The Screw-back unscrewing tool with case holder (13.2 x 1.6 cm) combines a precision wrench head with a clamping case holder, so the watch stays absolutely still while you apply torque to the back.

Product overview

Servicing a watch begins with opening it cleanly: no scratches, no slipped prongs, no dented case edges. The Screw-back unscrewing tool with case holder (13.2 x 1.6 cm) was selected by our atelier because it delivers professional-grade results in the hands of a hobbyist, while remaining gentle on the watch finish. A serviceable watch is one that you can open as many times as needed without ever degrading its case.

Whenever you replace a case-back gasket, a crown gasket or a crystal gasket, the quality of the opening tool directly determines the quality of the seal you can re-create. A perished O-ring is the single most common cause of water damage on a vintage watch; replacing it correctly requires opening the case without forcing it, lubricating with Moebius 8217 silicone grease, then closing back to specification.

Once the watch is open, you can inspect the case-back gasket, replace a perished O-ring, lubricate the crown gasket with Moebius 8217 silicone grease and re-pressure-test the case before strapping it back on the wrist.

This tool is suitable for amateur watchmakers, jewellers performing battery changes, and small repair workshops. It is regularly used by our partner workshops to service Rolex, Omega, Seiko, Tudor and Tissot timepieces, and it pairs perfectly with our range of gaskets sold individually or in assortments.

Each unit is checked before dispatch: dimensions, finish, hardness and packaging are inspected so that the tool you receive matches what a trained watchmaker would buy in trade catalogues. We ship from France within 24 working hours with tracked delivery across Europe.

How to install

  1. Clamp the watch in the case holder so it cannot rotate.
  2. Adjust the wrench pins or dies to match the case-back notches.
  3. Lock the adjustment knob firmly.
  4. Rotate counter-clockwise with steady, controlled torque.
  5. Lift the back, inspect the case-back gasket and clean the groove.
  6. Apply Moebius 8217 silicone grease on the new O-ring and seat it correctly.
  7. Close the back and verify water resistance.

Quality & origin

Designed in France, manufactured to professional watchmaker specification. Our products are selected from European and Japanese tool manufacturers with a track record in the watch industry, and each batch is inspected at our French logistics centre before being put on sale.

Tool steel components are heat-treated to maintain edge sharpness over thousands of cycles; rubber components are sourced from suppliers that already serve the automotive and aerospace seal industries — the same suppliers that produce Hytrel, NBR, FKM, Viton and EPDM gasket compounds we use elsewhere in our catalogue.

All our tools come with a 24-month satisfaction warranty: if a component fails under normal use, we replace it at no charge. Customer support is handled in French, English and Spanish.

FAQ

Will this tool damage my watch?

Used as described, no. Always work over a soft pad and never apply more torque than is strictly necessary; if a back resists, warm the case to soften the gasket grease and try again.

Is it suitable for Rolex / Omega / Seiko?

Yes — these tools are routinely used by our partner workshops on the Rolex, Omega, Seiko, Tudor and Tissot models referenced in our specifications.

Do I also need new gaskets?

Whenever you open a watch, plan to renew the case-back gasket and lubricate with Moebius 8217 silicone grease; we sell singles and assortments in Hytrel, NBR, FKM (Viton) and EPDM.

How quickly do you ship?

Within 24 working hours from France, tracked across Europe; expedited options available at checkout.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, 24 months. Contact our support with photos and we will replace any defective component free of charge.
